Goal – continue BCTA  community involvement

  1. Marched in the Benicia July  4th Parade
  2. Volunteered at North Bay Mens Pro Challenger Tournament
  3. Held Ball Raiser event for BHS Girls Tennis team, to get new match balls and gently used practice balls, where donors participated in a 3 hour clinic with Coach Mac and Coach Kris for the price of one can of balls. We raised 198 new cans of tennis balls as well as about 200 practice balls for the team.
  4. Held 2nd Holiday fundraising tournament benefiting Toys for Tots and North Bay Humane Society. Collection included $50 in cash; a van load of toys & books for the kids; a trunk load of used blankets and towels plus a large carrier, treats, and toys for the animals along with 3 large garbage bags full of used tennis balls
  5. Donated hats for the BHS Boys Tennis Team and jerseys for the BHS Girls Tennis team
  6. Continued to attend BUSD Board Meetings, to raise awareness of success of our youth programs and get the courts fixed under Measure S

Youth Tennis Program

  1. Had 149 children participate in our year-round after-school programs and summer camps led by Coach Mac with Coach Kris
  2. provided 167 hours of instruction  

Adult Tennis

1) Hosted 22 USTA teams throughout 2018

– 13 teams advanced to playoffs

– 2 teams advanced to districts

 – 2 teams advanced to sectionals

5) Hosted 1 tri-level tournament team

6) Had year-end ratings increase for 20 players

7) Provided 21 cases of balls for league play

8) Had 161 players participate on USTA teams for BCTA

BHS Tennis Teams

  1. Boys team finished undefeated, 15-0, to take first place in SCAC league play under Head Coach Lisa Burton.  Rajan Bhatia defeated teammate Amir Adel in the finals of the League tournament but both advanced to the Sectional Individual tournament, along with the doubles team of Spencer Gabel and Rowan Hayward. Rajan made it to the semi-finals of Sectionals, before losing to the #3 seed.
  2. Girls team finished first in their new league, the Diablo Valley League, for their 6th league title in a row. They went undefeated, 12-0, during the season, to increase their undefeated record to 85-0, under new Head Coach Melanie Voss.  Ashley Ko and Juliana Valencia won the league Doubles Title, to advance to the North Coast Sectional Individual Tournament. At Sectionals, Neha Yadav replaced Juliana, where she and Ashley made it to the quarter-finals before losing to the #1 seed.
